đ November 17, 2023 â The Day My World Collapsed
They didnât come with warning. They didnât come with proof. They came with a lie â and the full weight of a system built to believe it.
On November 17, 2023, South Carolina DSS removed my son from my arms without a valid court order, without a proper investigation, and without a shred of truth in the allegations. There were no bruises. No criminal charges. No neglect. Just paperwork and power â and a mother left screaming in silence.
This wasnât child protection. It was state-sponsored abduction.
â The False Narrative They Created
It all started with a call. A report filled with vague, baseless claims:
That I was using drugs (I wasn't â and I passed every test).
That my son wasnât attending school (he was â and I had the records).
That he was malnourished and abused (he wasn't â and I had medical proof).
But the system didnât ask for facts. They relied on the word of strangers who had never cared for my child.
And who benefited? My sons' father â the same people who only entered our lives after his death.
đš What They Ignored
My sonâs stable home with me, where he had been for nearly his entire life
My medical records, clean and consistent
Letters from doctors and therapists, verifying I was an attentive, loving mother
Evidence of toxic stress and emotional decline once he was removed
They ignored the trauma. They ignored the science. They ignored me â because they could.
đ§ What I Now Know
The removal of my son wasnât just a âmistake. âIt was part of a systemic pipeline that prioritizes:
Funding over families
Expediency over evidence
Control over constitutional rights
Families like mine â especially Black and single mothers â are disproportionately targeted, surveilled, and discredited. And once youâre in the system? Itâs nearly impossible to claw your way out.
đ The Cost
My child lost his mother. I lost time I can never get back.
Holidays. School projects. Bedtime stories. All stolen â in the name of âprotection.â
And the scars? They donât fade.
But Iâm still standing. And now Iâm speaking â for every parent who's been silenced like me.
